Multi-Material Ceramic 3D printing:Functionally Graded Ceramics

Having now reached the level of industrial mass production, there is already the next big thrust of innovation happening: 3D-printed near-net shape functionally graded ceramics (“FGCs”) with flexible gradient architectures.

The prospect to not only customize an application’s design, but also to include multiple functionalities has sparked many industries’ attention. Lithography-based Ceramic Manufacturing (LCM) offers great possibilities for fabrication of customized near-net shaped ceramic components with desired microstructural architectures and features.

This workshop aims to give insights and first results on printing setup and approaches that can be used for fabrication of FGCs by LCM technology with a smooth and discrete gradient in parallel- and perpendicular to deposition direction.
